Occasionally cable messages were transcribed onto other forms as a matter of necessity. The main reasons were:
- no forms were in stock;
- the Telegraph Office had not been supplied with Cablegram forms.
Usually the forms used were annotated with the appropriate heading. Some examples follow.

An example of the Victorian Interim period form VI-DO-3E used for a Cable from London (Via Eastern). 8 October 1918 at Proweyah -anoffice which was unlikely to have had a supply of Cablegram forms. TELEGRAM has simply been crossed out and ms. CABLE added. |
